Find your images fast and easy in SharePoint thanks to the Picture Library Enricher
It’s great to upload all your images in SharePoint, so everyone can make use of them. But SharePoint out-of-the-box does not store the metadata of these images. So you have to manually enter those in SharePoint otherwise searching will be difficult. As this can be a tedious job we have developed a handy tool that adds the embedded metadata automatically in SharePoint making your images searchable – fast and easy. Metadata make your images searchable in SharePoint
Metadata attached to a file enables you to find that file in SharePoint. The same counts for images. The more metadata attached to the image, the easier you search and find that image. The embedded metadata that are extracted by the Picture Library Enricher and automatically stored in SharePoint when you upload the image, are:
- Exif-data (camera brand/model, ISO speed, Focal Length, Exposure, Aperture, Shutter Time etc)
- Description
- Copyright
- Keywords
Exif and metadata from Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Picasa, Flickr automatically added in SharePoint
Here you can see an example how your image will look like after you have uploaded it in SharePoint. As you can see you will get all your metadata info nicely attached to your image. And the shown metadata are not restricted to the camera exif only. If you have added information like Title, Description, Copyright in image software programs and websites like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Picasa and Flickr than this information will also be shown.
GPS Coordinates metadata also in SharePoint
Shortly we will introduce GPS coordinates in our SharePoint Picture Library Enricher. This will be another version of the SharePoint Picture Library Enricher, but users who have the current version of the Picture Library Enricher will get the GPS version as free update. Included with the other photo metadata will be:
- GPS Lattitude Coordinates
- GPS Longitude Coordinates
- Time Stamp
This information can come in handy when you need to store images that are related to geological or geographical information. Here below an impression how this will look like:

In order to get your exif details in SharePoint it might be neccessary to refresh your page a few times (press F5). We are working on this to solve it, but until now you have to press F5 to get all details on your screen.
Please test with .jpg files, .gif files don’t have exif metadata.
As this is a public site please delete the uploaded images after trying as another visitor might see or download your image(s). We therefore also recommend to use images that are of no value to you and that do not have persons in the image.

SharePoint Picture Library Enricher : € 350 / US$ 450 per SharePoint Server / Windows SharePoint Services Server plus 20% annual maintenance fee.
The 20% maintenance fee will entitle you to product support and product improvements in feature and function.
